The Memory Card 251 is an information storage device used to record information such as game progress, high scores and more. The Memory Card 251 can store 251 "blocks" of information - more than four times the capacity of the Memory Card 59. Memory Cards are REQUIRED for nearly all Nintendo GameCube games that save game progress.

Strengths: long-term reliability
Weaknesses: too small
Summary: As I said before i think they a good jo b but there simply isn't enough game blocks (you have 251 blocks to save on and you have room for 18 games to be put in) For most gamers that is enough but for me it simply isn't so i have 3 of them now ( one for sports, RPG, and the last one for anything else. For starting gamers or people that don't have as many games as I should find this to be a great buy.

Strengths: Quality, durability. Price.
Weaknesses: Total size, price per block, not enough space if you're a sports fan.
Summary: The GCN Memory card 251, much like the 59 and 1019 is Nintendo's first party Mem card. The save states and quality on this card are rock solid. You will not lose saves due to corruption or compression, or the like. The Nintendo cards tend to carry a slightly higher price compared to third party cards, but the security and durability of your precious hard work is worth the premium. As far as downsides, the 251 is one fourth the size of the newer 1019, and is more expensive per save unit. However, if you are not into sports games, the 251 holds quite a few games per card- I averaged well over 20 games per 251 card. The bottom line on Nintendo's Memory Card 251 is that it is a great mem card. Unless you plan on buying sports games with monstrous save files, or you have a large collection the 251 is a good choice.

Strengths: It works and is first party.
Weaknesses: Can get better for the dollar.
Summary: The 251 is the middle child in Gamecube Memory cards. There's the lower 59 and the upper level 1019. The reason I bought this was as a gift. But I wouldn't buy it for myself. The problem is the 1019 has four times the storage but costs $30. Much more memory for the cost. And if you buy one at Best Buy with the "$5 off $20" gamers Gift card you can get the 1019 for only five bucks more. That's the equivalent of buying three more 251's for just five bucks more. If you need a memory card upgrade to the 1019. If money is a factor downgrade to the 59 or a used/third party memory card.

Strengths: Tons and tons of memory! 251 blocks available, and one of my games used like 9.
Weaknesses: It says that there may not be enough memory when you play a sports game, but I think it depends on whether or not you do a lot of customizing (like creating your own field or players).
Summary: Awesome! Works really well! Does the job and then some. Definitely suits my needs. I don't think I would ever use up all that memory, but I don't really own that many games, either.
