Time with product: 2 Years

Strengths: It's easy to change and flush with 3 gallons of water.

Weaknesses: It says it only lasts 6 months but the light on my KitchenAid fridge says it last 1 year (accurate to within a few days of the filter installation).

Summary: I have been using the deluxe filter for the first 3 years and the ultimate filter for the last 2 years. I can't taste a difference between the deluxe and the ultimate filter but my wife can. That is why I am buying the ultimate again instead of the deluxe.

Strengths: Certified to remove much more contaminants than the 4396508 - great tasting water - easy to swap out.

Weaknesses: Only lasts 400 gallons vs. 500 gallons - you have to change your filter light sensor in your fridge based on this.

Summary: Very easy to install - great filter - see other reviews to see exactly what it removes (much more than the 4396508). It is well worth the few extra bucks you have to pay. Why risk having certain contaminants in your water? Just shell out the few extra bucks and know you are getting cleaner water. ABT has a great deal on these - cheaper than if you buy the 4396508 retail. Buy the Whirlpool 4396510, you won't be disappointed.

Strengths: Good tasting water. Filtering out contaminants. Better than the cheaper filter Whirlpool 4396508 because this one does not remove flouride.

Weaknesses: Installation was a bit tricky. Expensive to replace every 6 months.

Summary: This is my first 4396510 filter. In the past I had the 4396508 filter. I figured for a few bucks more why not try a better filter. I think my water has never tasted better!! Plus flouride for my teeth too! I had a little trouble installing this filter, I didn't turn it far enough. Another note, when you're draining the first 3 gallons, the water coming out of the first gallon will be very slow. Don't worry, it's not your fridge nor your filter, but it's the water filling up the new filter. I was worried at first, but after the first gallon everything was fine.

Strengths: Removes more contaminants than the Deluxe, ease of replacement just twist and pull.

Weaknesses: none

Summary: Using this filter for the Best Buy Inglis made by Whirlpool. There is a difference between the Deluxe filter and this new Ultimate filter. The Ultimate filters more contaminates and the taste of the water is noticeably better than the Deluxe. For the 3.00 extra, it is well worth the investment.

Summary: My wife is extremely sensitive to contaminants in water; she swears that bottled water tastes better than our tap water & refuses to drink unfiltered tap water. However, using the filter produces water that she'll actually drink. So as they say, "the proof is in the pudding." Does it work? Well, it works well enough for us if she says she can notice a difference.
