Nintendo Classic NES Series: Super Mario Bros (GBA)
GBA
Rating:
9.4
Relive the mushroom-eating, Koopa-stomping action in Super Mario Bros., part of the NES Classics series for the Game Boy Advance. Mario and Luigi both do their share of brick bustin' and pipe crawlin' as they battle Bowser. Leap your way to victory in this blast from the past.

Strengths: It's THE classic
Weaknesses: I know I've played this before...
Summary: The classic Mario Bros. game is the classic of all classics. The only fault in this game isn't the game itself, but it's the fact that you've probably played this before and you're paying to play it again. There's nothing wrong, since it's Mario though. I recommend this game to anyone who has somehow, yet to play it. Go get it!

Strengths: It's Mario -- what's not to love?
Weaknesses: Minor cropping/resolution issues; lacks extras
Summary: Any gamer worth his controller knows exactly what this game is all about, so there's no need to rehash. Simply put, Super Mario Bros. is a classic (duh!), and this version is every bit as magical as the original, except it can be played wherever you go. The only real downer with this particular version is the price. It can cost a pretty penny, as the game saw a limited release and now commands major moola, especially on eBay. For hardcore Mario fans, though, cost isn't an issue when it comes to Nintendo's portly plumber. After all, you can't put a price on great gameplay, and Super Mario Bros. is one of the greatest games of all time. Being able to experience it anywhere you want makes it even sweeter.

Strengths: Good port
Weaknesses: No extra content
Summary: In my continuing effort to support the GBA Classics series I picked up Super Mario Brothers. It is just as fun and addictive as the original, and I highly reccommend picking one up. Once again, my only real complaint is the lack of any 'extra' features. Connection bonuses for Super Mario Sunshine would have been neat.

Strengths: Exact port of NES Game
Weaknesses: Worse graphics
Summary: Super Mario Bros is an exact port of the NES original, but the major proble with it is that the graphics have been sqwished down to fit on the GBA Screen. Because of this the game seems to be choppy at times. Besides the graphical imperfections, Super Mario Brothers retains all 64 levels of the original and is still extremely fun 20 years later. Of course all the tricks that you recall for the original NES version work here, so the experienced gamer could breeze through this game by warping in under an hour, if that. Still a worthy game to add to the GBA colection.

Strengths: Good level design, catchy music
Weaknesses: No extras added from the original NES version
Summary: Super Mario Bros. is the platformer that started Nintendo's fame in the console market about 20 years ago and made Nintendo a household word. Although Super Mario Bros. is almost 20 years old it is still alot of fun & has aged well as alot of older games may not be as fun nowadays as one may remember them being back in the day but some games such as Super Mario Bros. are still lots of fun to play even years later such as the case is here with the simple yet fun gameplay and brillent level design. When you put Super Mario Bros. in your Gameboy Advance you will notice that it is a straight port of the NES version with nothing extra added while it would have been nice if they did add something in my opinion (Lost Levels anyone :)) I would say that Super Mario Bros. although a straight port of an 8-bit game from yesteryear on a 16-bit handheld it's still a good buy now that the price has gone down & is much cheaper than your average GameBoy Advance game. A have for fans of the NES & for those who are younger and enjoy 2D platformers.
