Strengths: Support for USB drive transfer. Support of using hard drive for saving games. Download cheat codes from website or use PS2 to download and save onto memory card. Chat function available.
Weaknesses: None at the moment
Summary: The one being reviewed is version 9.3 Code Breaker is a cheat device like GameShark and Action Replay for the game systems. Their codes are not compatible, however. One of the major strengths of Code Breaker is the support for USB drive transfer. The user can use the USB drive to transfer downloaded game save(s) to PS2 memory card or backup game save(s) from the memory card. Another major strength of Code Breaker is the user can use the hard drive, if available, to store game saves. With both of these functions, the user simply get by with one memory card alone and without buying additional memory card(s). The cheat codes from the disc is not the only ones that user can have. Cheat codes can be entered by the user, or downloaded from the website and transfer using USB drive or the user can use PS2 to download the cheat codes, whatever the method, the cheat code will be saved onto the memory card. The website also provide an utility for users of Code Breaker to make their own list of cheat codes. The newer version of Code Breaker, possibly exist since 9.0, have chat function built in. It allows users to chat using their PS2s via IRC protocol. Overall, Code Breaker is not just a cheat device, it is more of a utility tool for PS2 users. Whether using cheat codes is to a user's taste or not, Code Breaker is still useful as a save game manager with built in chat function.

Time with product: 1 Months
Strengths: Tons of features not listed on the packaging. No need for dongles.
Weaknesses: Load time varies. May not work on some modified PS2.
Summary: I have Code Breaker version 9.2 for PS2. I think the newer (9.x) versions are all packaged with the big "get MORE game" logo on the box, with a smaller CODEBREAKER name at the bottom. This device contains many more features than the packaging tells you, in addition to the basic cheat functions. Some of these features include: - Support for a variety of USB memory devices. - Transfer game saves from/to PS2 memory card to/from usb device, and even PS2 hard drive. - download codes directly from web on network-equipped PS2. - Unlike other cheat devices, this one does not require any flimsy dongle (memory card or usb key) in order to boot up - one less hardware failure to worry about. I just love how it allows transferring save files onto USB device. Being able to backup game saves means not having to spend more money to buy PS2 memory cards. And Codebreaker actually cost less than an official PS2 memory card. You can also download game saves from websites (like gamefaqs or cmgsccc) for free, and then transfer via usb to your PS2 memory card, if you want to take advantage of other people's game progress. Though it is said that this device boots faster than some other cheat devices, I did notice the boot time varies on different systems. It boots up fine on one system, but took forever on another. There are also mentions that this device may not work on systems installed with certain modchips. Overall, I am very happy with this device. I'd definitely pick this over its competitors.

Time with product: 2 Weeks
Strengths: no memory card dongle neededbetter USB flash drive support than Action Replayfast load time110,000 codes built in
Weaknesses: Hard to get out of package
Summary: If you are looking for a cheat device, get the codebreaker. Codebreaker from Pelican does not require a dongle to be in one of your memory card slots to boot up. And, load times are way faster than with Action Replay(about 20-30 secs vs. 2 mins) This thing has a lot of codes on disc, including god of war, possibly even more recent than that. If not, you can download new codes direct from the internet. Oh yeah, codebreaker gets you codes faster with "Day 1" codes available on game launch day. This worked with my no name brand usb flash drive, where AR MAX did not. Oh yeah, CB also supports storing saves and codes to a hard drive! I'm loving it, only gripe is that the packaging is awkward. Couldn't pull the disc off the plastic spindle, had to crush the spindle a little with some pliers to get the disc out. Only thing AR MAX has over CB is DVD region X, which lets you play any region dvd(not sure if it can play PAL titles?).
