Assassin?s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that will redefine the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin?s Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change. The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict. You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.
bit-tech Review
"Assassin's Creed could have been so much more: given better enemy AI, more variation in the missions and a more coherent storyline, this could have been a game that lived up to the hype. Unfortunately, what we have is a game with amazing graphics and not much else.
The gameplay on it’s own isn’t really that bad, but it’s far from the hyped up genre defining spectacular we were all lead to expect. The brutal reality is that because the game tries to be a jack of all trades it ends up as a master of none. There are better stealth games out there and better platformers and third-person shooters too. For plot, there are more convincing science fiction games and more interesting historical games.
How exactly the game managed to build so much hype on just a handful of screenshots and a trailer or two, I’m not sure. It feels a bit like a developers conceit, and the game has been sold on the one thing it lacks; innovation and originality. The game ends up as entirely average." - 27th November 2007

Rating: Time with product: 2 Months Strengths: +open world to explore+creative control+interesting storyline+gorgeous graphics Weaknesses: -unfinished product-repetitive/lack variety-little replay ability Summary: Assassin?s Creed has finally been released but the question is was it worth all the hype? The answer is a resounding yes and no. Graphics are breathtaking from Altair to all three cities in the game. Controls are not complex and are easy to pick up. Practically all the buildings in Assassin?s Creed are climbable, within reason. By far my favorite part of the game was exploring the highly detailed cities, and performing dives off large buildings. After completing the game gamers can still explore the city and collect the various flags scattered around all the cities. While Assassin?s Creed excels in graphics, and game dynamics the storyline leaves much to be desired. The infamous plot-twist occurs in the very beginning of Assassin?s Creed and wasn?t very interesting. Assassin?s Creed?s ending was also disappointing and seemed to set the game up for a sequel more than a conclusive ending. Combat while realistic, was a bit too simplistic for my tastes. The game also suffers from severe repetition. Altair has 9 assassinations he must perform and goes about each assassination in the same manner. That means Altair must gather intel, pick pocket, etc. repeatedly. Despite its flaws Assassin?s Creed is a worthy addition to any 360 collection. |

Rating: Time with product: 15 Strengths: Nice Graphics, big cities to explore Weaknesses: A bit repetitive Summary: Assassin's Creed is a game that does many things right, though throughout the course of the game it does get repetitive. Searching through the cities of Damascus, Jerusalem, etc., is very thrilling as all the cities look great and are filled with life. The combat isn't the greatest thing to grace the video game industry, but it works. The music and sound effects are well done and bring the game to life. Overall I really enjoyed playing it and if you like these sorts of games I definitely recommend it. |

Rating: Time with product: 3 Weeks Strengths: Good overall game so far. Plenty of action Weaknesses: None so far Summary: This is pretty much what I was expecting, if not better. There's plenty of action to keep you playing for hours - not realizing it's been hours. Don't start if you need to get sleep soon! |

Rating: Time with product: 3 Weeks Strengths: Realistic, Graphics, Plot, Time Setting Weaknesses: None Summary: If you haven't purchased this game yet you should. It's so entertaining that I don't play it too often because I don't want to beat it yet. The levels are so huge and you have free reign to complete whatever missions you want in whatever order you want. The graphics in the game make the scenery look so realistic that it adds so much to playing the game. Highly recommend. |

Rating: Time with product: 6 Days Strengths: Variety and interesting scenery. Action at every turn. Weaknesses: Wish it was 2 player. Summary: The story in this is interesting. Good vs evil, societies vs societies. Action throughout. Variety of weaponry. Nice set of different things to do. I like the fact that I can choose when to fight and when to pass. Great game! |
