Summary: Our failed during meat grinding... The cheap plastic housing holding the heavy duty metal gears failed. I contacted KitchenAid to find out if this design flaw has been fixed. It has been and here is their response (note that they are saying that if you receive one of the models with the plastic housing they will replace it under warranty with the new metal housing. It is also important to note that the people who've had the problem have almost all stated that KitchenAid had great customer service and replaced their mixers with no ones with no problems.If you have additional questions, feel free to reply back to me. Strengths: Well built, studdy, powerful motor

Weaknesses: A little expensive

Summary: This machine is perfect for baking a loave of bread, making cakes, muffins, mashed potatoes, whipped cream, even knead heavy dough for Sourdough bread with no hassle. Accessories and attachments are easy to clean. KitchenAid is well known for its name and durability. This machine will last for many years.

Summary: I purchased this mixer for use in my restaurant for small dough batches and tira misu. Haven't used it yet for dough, but the whipping action is so superb that I only need to whip the cream mixture for the tira misu for about 2 minutes and this shortens the overall preparation immensely.

You can purchased separate attachments for other cooking functions such as grinding meat and making pasta. The mixer is nicely built with metal gears which will last for years. Came with three mixer fittings and steel bowl and splash cover. Overall a great kitchen machine for mixing almost anything. And hassle-free 1 year warranty that you may not need.
