The epic story of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker continues as Link finds himself lost and alone in unknown seas in a new adventure. Featuring intuitive touch-screen controls and innovative puzzles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass offers new challenges for fans of the series and an easy-to-grasp introduction for gamers new to The Legend of Zelda. But time grows short, and only the Phantom Hourglass can buy Link the minutes he will need to survive.
bit-tech Review
"That’s exactly what’s on offer with Phantom Hourglass too – a mountain gameplay which will keep you coming back for more over and over. The game does well to offer a scaled down version of past Zelda titles and the design team have obviously learned what was good and was bad about The Wind Waker. More impressively, they’ve managed to design a game which is perfectly suited to the hardware of the DS.
There are a few problems with The Phantom Hourglass though, such as the titular hourglass which provides Link with a set amount of ‘safe time’ when traversing the games central dungeon – The Home of The Ocean King. The dungeon itself relies more on stealth gameplay than puzzles and the hourglass is an obvious and annoying attempt to add tension to it all.
That said, as a whole Phantom Hourglass is a fantastic game which should be considered a must-buy for the Nintendo DS. For hardcore gamers there aren’t that many must-have games either and if you want to avoid the likes of Nintendogs then you’re pretty much limited to Mario, Wars and – which makes Hourglass even more of a feat." - 27th October 2007

Rating: Time with product: 10 Strengths: pefect Weaknesses: none Summary: great game play and graphics for the ds. it appears some cant find out how to do a roll... i accidentally did one, its pretty easy. put the stylus at the edge of the screen wait until your at full speed and just scribble, it says tiny circles bu scribbling works best. if oyu dont have a ds get one and buy this game! |

Rating: Time with product: 2 Weeks Strengths: gameplay, stylus controls Weaknesses: graphics (contrary to other reviewers) Summary: I?m really enjoying Zelda so far. The intro is a bit long winded and the graphics are so-so (there are better DS graphics out there), but the gameplay makes up for those shortcomings. The controls are pretty quick to learn as everything you do (attack, move, throw, etc.) are controlled by the stylus. I think it all works well once you get the hang of it. The toughest thing so far is to remember how to roll which will come in handy as you get further into the story. There is quite a bit of variety as it has ship navigation, RPG elements and puzzles to keep it going. |

Rating: Time with product: 1 Strengths: Really nice integration of all the different aspects of the DS, especially how you move, fight, and do everything with the stylus and rarely use the regular controls... Weaknesses: Aimed more at kids so it seems more playful... however even I got stumped on some of the simplest things... Hint to blow out the candles, you blow on the DS mic :-P Oh and rolling is near impossible. Summary: Really nice integration of all the different aspects of the DS, especially how you move, fight, and do everything with the stylus and rarely use the regular controls... I still can't believe I got stumped with things as simple as blowing out the candles by blowing into the mic! Have to give the development team major KUDOS on creating a solid and unique new game and Zelda Adventure. I wish it lasted longer, and I wish things were a bit easier to find but that is what gives it replay value! |

Rating: Time with product: 1 Days Strengths: *Stylus Controls*Graphics/Art Style*Story Weaknesses: None Summary: If you don't have a DS, buy one and buy this game; plain and simple. This is easily the best game on the system and is a runner for game of the year. Having played all the Zelda games, I consider this in the top 3. |

Rating: Time with product: 2 Weeks Strengths: Everything. Weaknesses: None Summary: Phantom Hourglass is an excellent, excellent zelda game. it starts as the end of wind walker and has the same graphical style and setting. It looks fantastic and has a great stsetting and quest. However, the innovative controls really take the cake. The DS touch screen is fantastic in this game and an integral part of the control. But it! |
