The keys are lit (you can select which color you prefer) so that you can locate the keys in a dark room (if you can't already type without looking). If anything, that definitely adds to the cool factor (hey, I'm easily amused!). The best perk of this keyboard is having all of your gaming keys in one area. They're programmable to the game you're playing. Althoughit may be hard to remember/learn the keys, it's a huge pro in the long run.
