Rating:
8.7
While inheriting the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PlayStation 2 (SCPH-50000), the internal design architecture of the redesigned PlayStation2 computer entertainment system (SCPH-70000 CB) model has been completely overhauled, resulting in a slimmer and more lightweight form. Internal volume has been reduced by 75 percent, overall weight has been halved, and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm (thickness of current model is 7.8cm). Its size is almost as small as a hardcover book, making it easier to carry around. Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the PlayStation 2 fuses design and functionality. Approximately 40 percent of North American PlayStation 2 online gamers use dial-up connections and to satisfy this base, the North American model is equipped with both Ethernet and modem ports.

Rating: 10
Time with product: 1
Strengths: Price, 4 games bundle, big library, sleek design, sexy.
Weaknesses: too delicate
Summary: So I've got this spring a slim ps2 and it rocks. With a mem card it is really very good; and i've got it for like 175$ in romania with 4 games bundle. Its only pb is that if you drop it you can kiss goodbye. IT ROXZ!

Time with product: 90 Days
Strengths: Light, compact size, optional vertical stand, quiet, onboard network adapteradapter
Weaknesses: none encountered yet
Summary: A stylish lightweight compact unit capable of horizontal or vertical position with optional stand, makes it very space efficient for those with limited space. It is quiet and backward compatible with PS1 games. Its DVD player plays PS games, DVDs or CDs, and online play is possible with its network adapter.

Rating: 10
Time with product: 3 Months
Strengths: Smaller, quieter, built-in network port and IR receiver
Weaknesses: No support for hard drive, new multi-tap required, external power adapter
Summary: This is a great improvement over the previous version in terms of size and design. It really is the size of a DVD case and that makes it much more portable (I take it on long business trips). Much of the reduction of size and noise is from removing the dc transformer outide the unit - it now has a power brick. I wouldn't rush out and buy one if you have a working PS2 unless you want it for traveling because I haven't noticed and changes in perfromance, etc. A couple of disadvantages are that the hard drive is not compatable with this unit and the old multitap doesn't work anymore because the arrangement of the controller and memory card have changed.

Strengths: Cool slim design, good price, built-in DVD player
Weaknesses: None
Summary: With the cool slim design and low price, I can not resist it. This slim PS2 system is the first vedio game system I have purchased. I am totally satisfied with it. It is fast and quiet. It also has a built-in DVD player. I hope that the DVD player remote control was included. It does not have built-in hard drive, but I do not need it. It is a must buy for yourself or as a gift. Highly recommended.
