Weaknesses: Feels like a direct port of the old NHL games, no franchise mode. Summary: This game was definitely a site for sore eyes. After playing so many 3D hockey games, it was great to see a hockey title that goes back to its roots. I'm speaking of course of the old NHL games on Genesis and SNES. The funny thing about this GBA game is that it feels like a port of the old NHL games and not something built from scratch. This is a good and bad thing. I love playing those old school games but at the same time I wish they would improve upon the old games. Although there's a season mode, there is no franchise mode. This definitely cuts down on the replay value. The game feels very barebones (no player photos) probably due to the constrictions of the GBA cartridge format. Still, having a portable version of NHL is great since you can enjoy it anywhere you go.
