Strengths: Fun part game, wide variety of mini-games
Weaknesses: Takes a while to unlock everything
Summary: Anyone who has played a Mario Party game knows what to expect. You grab a couple of friends (or in my case my kids), put the disc in and fire it up. You choose a character, hit the "dice blocks" with your character's head, and move around on a variety of play boards. The different events triggered by the space you land on include shops to buy items (that you can use to boost your player or harm others), special mini-games that either you or all the players must participate in, and simple +/- coins spaces. At the end of each player's turn, a mini-game is played with all the characters - these are either all for yourself type games, or 2 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 1, depending on what kinds of spaces the players landed on during their turn. The quality and fun of the mini-games varies, but since all of them are short and there over 50 of them it stays interesting for quite a while. There are unlockable characters and boards, and pretty much the only knock on the game is that in order to unlock everything you have to play for a while, and the mini-games would start to get repetitive. But if you are looking for a quick and easy multi-player party game, you simply can't beat the Mario Party series. As of this writing they are up to Mario Party 6 with 7 coming out soon. It doesn't really matter which you pick up though, as they all play pretty much in the same way. We also have Mario Party 6 and it is not significantly better than 4, so if 4 is available (and possibly cheaper) go for that one.

Strengths: Multi-Player Fun
Weaknesses: Single player, Similar to Mario Party 3
Summary: Nintendo Mario Party 4 for GameCube continues the multi-player family friendly Mario Party Tradition. There are several different game play modes such as Single-player, Story mode, Party mode, and Mini-Games. There is ton of variety in the Mini-Games which will keep you interested in the game for quite a bit of time to come. Single player is weak, but that's a given with this series. If you have 3 friends available to play, grab some controllers and get going, you won't regret the purchase of this game!

Strengths: Awesome party game.
Weaknesses: 5 and 6 are better?
Summary: I love the Mario Party games. You can play them with 3 other people and have a blast. Mario Party 5 and 6 are obviously better, but they all have different mini games. Grab some girls, grab some friends, have a few beers and play. This game will actually entertain EVERYONE.

Strengths: Can be played by anyone, gameplay allows for almost anyone to win, great party game, addicting mini-games, inclusion of Nintendo characters
Weaknesses: Mini-games can get extremely boring after playing too much, single-player game is no fun
Summary: If you're looking for a great way to invite tons of friends over and have a great time, I would definitely pick up this game... just make sure that you have 4 controllers! If all you're going to do with this game is single player, avoid it. The simple, competitive gameplay allows for a group of friends to joke and carry on conversation while playing. Great game!

Strengths: lots of different types of games, A+ multiplayer, family friendly
Weaknesses: more of the same when compared with previous titles, single player gets old fast
Summary: This is not a game to be played by yourself. MP 4's stregths lie in the multiplayer. Thus, if you don't have friends that are into video games, and more specifically mini-games such as those in previous Mario Party titles this probably is not a worthy purchase. Howevere, this game is fun for the whole family so if you have a spouse and/or kids that play games, then there isn't a better multiplayer party game out there.
