Strengths: Jack of all trades when it comes to making/buring CDs and DVDs
Weaknesses: Overkill for many PC users, expense
Summary: I've been a Nero user for something like the last 5 versions. It has become increasingly featured and even slightly bloated along the way, as each version added extra utilities and capabilities. With that has also come a gradual increase in price, although you can usually find some excellent rebate deals on this title once or twice a year. Much of the software go unused on my machine, as I don't master DVDs or video content. But it remains my preferred tool for CD storage tasks.

Strengths: ?
Weaknesses: ?
Summary: I installed Nero Ultra 7 on my Daughters new laptop that I just bought her and it wouldn't work, it said that I had to upgrade to version 8. So I purchased Nero 8 from you and it doesen't work either? Of course it could be a Vista problem because that operating system sucks, but I guess I will never know. So in conclusion, my copy of Nero 8 is sitting collecting dust because there is nothing I can do with it!

Strengths: CD Burner and labeler seem to work
Weaknesses: Not compatible with my capture device
Summary: I tried and purchased Nero 8 to transfer video tapes to DVDs. After a Nero update the transfers had no sound, and the sound control on Nero Video was grayed out. After several email exchanges and two wasted reinstalls, Nero finally revealed that not all sound capture devices are compatible, but would still not refund my money. They said I should have looked up the list of compatible devices before buying. Not a way to keep customers, or get new ones! Windows Media Encoder works with my device, so I use that now.

Strengths: Many options, Express menu
Weaknesses: Price
Summary: I bought this program as an upgrade to my Express edition. Overall, I'm satisfied due to ease of use, but it has many more options that I don't use. I thought it was pricy, but I combined it with a rebate and promotion to make it about $50 and I needed such a program right away.

Time with product: 7 Months
Strengths: Very strong function. thorough
Weaknesses: too big. use too much memory
Summary: I bought this item back to last Nov. I like this software. It's a good update of Nero 7. But the problem is that this is too big a program. I have windows media as well as realplayer. I can use them. SO I don't need to use this nero 8 as a default player. Actually I only use nero to burn disks. So if you want only that function. YOu can use nero 7, or even nero 6. That's enough.
