Rating: Time with product: 2 Weeks Strengths: Steam cleaning in the washer, steam wrinkle release in the dryer Weaknesses: The dryer drum is painted instead of stainless steel. Summary: After a lot of research, I found that the Whirlpool Duet Steam is a well made and highly rated washer and dryer set. The capacity of both the washer and dryer are excellent and the cleaning ability is much better than our old set. There are settings for sanatizing, heavy duty, as well as wool, silk, hand-washing and many others. The dryer came with a certificate for a free drying rack which Whirlpool promptly shipped to me at no charge. The dryer has a steam refresh setting to take wrinkles out and it connects directly to the water line by a Y-connector to the washing machine so there isn't a water compartment to refill each time you run a steam refresh load. The only feature that I would like to see improved would be a stainless dryer drum instead of a painted drum. |

Rating: Time with product: 7 Days Strengths: Solid well built machine. It washed our whites cleaner than before. Nice look to it and a window to watch the wash get done. Weaknesses: It is a heavy machine when it comes time to move it around. Summary: We purchased off the internet a brand new Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer and Steam Dryer roughly two weeks ago. First we were surprised with the speed of delivery, keeping in mind this is a freight delivery we were impressed. More impressive was how friendly and helpful the UPS Freight driver was with opening the packaging to check for damage before leaving. Fortunately everything arrived in fine shape.A couple days later I installed the Washer and Dryer. The delay was due to various other priorities I had going for the interim days. Installing is pretty simple if you follow the instructions and have a helper to move the equipment around the house. So far we have been using the machine quite a bit. We had a big build up of clothes as we had been busy for a couple of weeks. Everything came out clean. The noise level is tolerable, although the end of the spin cycle noise takes getting used to, as it sounds almost like a jet engine stopping but not loud. The clothes all came out as clean, and the whites even whiter than the old machine. The water barely runs and the nice chimes that let us know it is all done is a nice touch. Not a harsh buzzer a nice chime. So far it seems to be working perfectly, no bouncing around during the spin or at any other time. It is odd to be able to see the wash getting done though, something new here. If you want top notch cleaning capability and don?t mind paying for top of the line machines buy it. Searching pricegrabber helps at least keep the price as low as possible. Buying from out of state, especially with free shipping and no tax can really save some money, enough in our case to pay for the work top and still have loads of money left over. |
