Answering an invitation, Mario, Luigi and Wario set out for a royal party with Princess Peach. When they arrive at the castle, though, they find it strangely empty. Meanwhile, Yoshi awakes from a rooftop nap to find the castle eerily silent, with Mario, Luigi and Wario nowhere to be seen. Yoshi discovers that Bowser has pilfered the castle's Power Stars and imprisoned the Toads in the castle's immense collection of paintings. It's up to the dynamic dino to figure out what happened to Mario, Luigi and Wario and save the day. Each of the four main characters has multiple jumping moves that cover great distances. Yoshi can eat enemies and turn them into eggs that he can throw; Mario can punch, kick and wall-jump to great heights; super-strong Wario can break certain blocks; and Luigi can jump incredibly high. Power Flowers give each character even cooler powers, such as invisibility, fire breath or the power to float through the air.

Strengths: More charcters than the console version
Weaknesses: Almost exact port of a 10 year old game; Difficult to control
Summary: Super Mario 64 DS is the portable version of the Nintendo 64 Super Mario 64 released almost 10 years ago. The game has exactly the same boxy graphics as the original and manages to carry over all the fun as well. The problem with this tho, is that because there is no analog stick that made the console version control wonderfully, the game is extremely difficult to control on the DS. The best use would be the thumbstrap that came with the DS, but I still cannot seem to get used to it, even 10 months later. Good, but certainly not the best DS game to purchase.

Strengths: Variety of things to do, different playable characters.
Weaknesses: Some parts are very simple to complete.
Summary: This is a very fun action-adventure game for all ages. It is pretty simple at first to start playing, but there are a ton of levels with a variety of tasks for each level. This is a remake from an N64 game, but a ton of things have been added such as minigames, new playable characters, and the use of the Nintendo DS touch screen. Using the touch screen is not mandatory, but may be preferred to controlling your character using the directional pad. The graphics are great for a handheld game. You are also given the opportunity to save frequently, so you won't find yourself having to turn off the game and losing progress. Its a fun platform game and each character you choose has unique abilities that will make them better suited for certain tasks. Mario can punch and kick jump off walls among other things. Yoshi can flutter as well as turn enemies into eggs. Wario is slower but more powerful and can break into places others can't. And Luigi is faster and can run across water for a short period of time. Even though it is a Mario game it offers a fairly lengthy amount of play as there are so many things to do in this not even including the minigames that you can unlock that are great for killing time and trying to set high-scores. I highly recommend this as one of the best DS games out.

Time with product: 2 Months
Strengths: 1. Luigi can jump high; 2. Yoshi (blue) can fly
Weaknesses: 1. Mario doesn't talk; 2. Mario can't jump very well
Summary: For this review's strength's ad weakness's I decided to straight to the source, my 10 year old son. He's played about halfway through the game and has thoroughly enjoyed it. Since the choices for DS games is relatively limited right now, this game is a must have. I have played a little bit of the way through and have found it enjoyable, but I can't quite get the hang of the user interface. The 3d graphics are reminiscent of Mario Sunshine on the GC.

Strengths: Great Graphics, Mini Games
Weaknesses: Rehash of the Game for the N64, Controls
Summary: Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo DS is probably the only game worth paying full price for the DS right now (maybe WarioWare Touched too). The game provides hours of entertaining game play by delivering the classic platforming action of the Mario genre from Nintendo. The game offers some fun new Mini-Games as well. If you've never played the game before on the N64 or your missing the old days, this game is for you.
