Rating: Time with product: 6 Months Strengths: Thick polycarbonite and cushioned interior protect PSP, case doubles as a stand for viewing videos, PSP can be played with case flipped open Weaknesses: Large and bulky, lacks storage for UMD and/or MemoryStick, isode, doesn't play nice with other Logitech PSP accessories, scratches easily Summary: The first thing any PSP owner needs to do is go get a bigger MemoryStick PRO Duo. The second thing they need to do is get a dependable case to protect your $250-300 purchase. The Logitech PlayGear Pocket is the body armor that your PSP needs for those potential bumps and bruises. The PlayGear Pocket is a clamshell design case constructed of clear polycarbonite with a black rubberized interior. With the PSP inserted into the PlayGear Pocket the power switch, WiFi switch, AC power input and shoulder buttons are exposed to allow gameplay with the case flipped open. I think an unexpected benefit of this design is that the top cover acts as a sort of sunshield to reduce any glare. The only problems that I have experienced using the case in this way is that it isn't very comfortable, and occassionally the cushioning from the top cover falls out (it's only held there by friction, not adhesive of any sort). Other than this, the case performs as expected. I toss my PSP into my backpack or luggage, depending if I'm on my way to work or on a business trip. I never worry about damage to the PSP, as the polycarbonite case and cushioned interior seem plenty sturdy enough to deal with most of the jostling that it may experience. When not used for protection, the case flips open a full 270 degrees to double as a stand for watching PSP video. The AC power input is exposed at all times, so you can charge the PSP while in the case whether it is closed or in use playing games or propped up in the case/stand playing a video. Despite doing what it is supposed to do (protect the PSP0 quite well, the PlayGear Pocket is not aptly named. The bulk of the PlayGear Pocket simply does not allow the device to be carried in your pocket while in the case. The case nearly doubles the thickness of the PSP and increases the weight noticably. With this added girth, one might expect some storage compartments or pouches for the UMD media or MemoryStick PRO Duo sticks, but none are to be found. Similarly odd, the PlayGear Pocket does not play nice with other Logitech 'PlayGear' branded PSP accessories. Specifically the PlayGear Visor, which is a screen protector that clips to the face of the PSP. One might expect that two 'PlayGear' branded products might be designed to work together but they do not. Finally, the polycarbonite seems to scratch quite easily. I know that this is intended to protect the PSP inside, so it's really a minor complaint. All in all, despite these limitations, the PlayGear Pocket does what it's supposed to do extremely well. I never worry if my PSP will power on after carrying it in my backpack or my luggage. I purchased my PlayGear Pocket from a major brick-and-mortar retailer for $19, but I have recently seen these between $10-15. Since the release of the PlayGear Pocket, other third-parties have improved on this design and addressed some of the issues noted in this review. If you are in the market for a case for your PSP, look around and at least make sure you consider how you plan to use it. |

Rating: Time with product: Strengths: Leaves triggers and ports accessible, lid flips to a full 270 degrees to double as a movie stand. Unbeatable protection of the PSP from all angles. Weaknesses: Pressure sensitive latch can sometimes be a hassle, makes PSP a little bulky. Summary: For a MSRP of $20, the LogiTech PlayGear Pocket is the best investment, and the first, that a PSP owner should make. With the beautiful LCD screen already exposed, the PSP needed a good hardshell case that would protect it, as well as all the other controls of the PSP. The PGP allows the user to even use the PGP while it's in use, the contoured bottom of the PGP allows for a good soft grip on the PSP, which is great for people who play games for hours on end, the PGP prevents the hands from cramping up. The PGP itself scratches fairly easily, but it's supposed to protect the PSP itself from receiving those scratches. The PGP makes the PSP a less pocket-friendly device because it makes the PSP almost twice as thick, so you're able to throw it in your backpack, car, or wherever you bring your PSP. For a fraction of the cost of a PSP, the PlayGear Pocket is a must have accessory for any PSP owner that values the condition of their handheld system. |

Rating: Time with product: 45 Days Strengths: Very sturdy, PSP playable inside, cushioned, access for earphones, power cord Weaknesses: Big, heavy, blocks USB port Summary: This is a great case for travelling with your PSP. It is very sturdy and almost completly encloses the PSP. The L & R buttons and the strap connector stick out of it a little bit. The latch closes firmly and I've never had it come open accidently. It is rather big and almost doubles the thickness of the PSP. This is the best protective case I have seen and I recommend it highly. |

Rating: Time with product: Strengths: + Incredbily Strong+ Customizable Skin+ Perfect Openings + Stands on it's on+ PSP actually feels safe Weaknesses: - USB port won't fit with PSP in the case- The thing is quite heavy - PSP felt alittle loose- Still gets dusty Summary: If you own a PSP there is little excuse for not owning the PSP playgear pocket. It may have it's flaws but is the best PSP case out there. Before I got the playgear pocket I had the Pelican Face/Screen Protector and it was horrible. It screwed up the PSP UMD ejector, and the Pelican Face got scratched up quickly. Don't make my mistake, just get a playgear pocket. The PSP fits almost perfectly into the pocket and actually feels safe. The Playgear also allows you to customize it's screen with your custom PSP skins. There are holes in the case that allow you to access the headphones, wifi, on and off switches. You will however have to take your PSP out when you use the USB port or switch UMD discs. In conclusion if safety is your main concern when looking for a PSP case, then look no further. The PSP playgear pocket is just what you need. |

Rating: Time with product: 1 Weeks Strengths: Solid durable construction, Removable Rubber Weaknesses: Doesn't Protect PSP enough, too bulky to fit in pocket since PSP is made thicker, unable to play with in case Summary: I read quite a few reviews recommending this product before I purchased and must say I am disappointed. Yes it has great construction and open slots to put your headphone jack, on/off switch, and even turns into a stand. However this simply does not provide the kind of protection and on the go portability I require. I would recommend a Skin Grip--which envelops the PSP but allows the d-pad, face buttons, UMD door, trigger buttons, and all slots exposure-- along with the Hori Screen Protector. This way while you are using the PSP it is protected from dust and prints The case makes the PSP look too big. I wouldn't recommend carrying the PSP with the Logitech case in your pocket. Also there are no slots to put your PSP games in. |
