Pok?mon Emerald is storming onto Game Boy Advance with a vengeance. The third adventure to take place in the Hoenn region, Pok?mon Emerald features all-new areas and exciting plot twists. The story begins when your character, a young aspiring Pok?mon Trainer, moves to Littleroot Town. Crammed amid a truckload of boxes, our hero enters the foreign neighborhood eager to explore. Shortly into your journey a challenge arises and you must choose from three Pok?mon -- Torchic, Mudkip or Treecko -- and begin a quest to become the world's best Pok?mon Trainer.Veterans of Pok?mon Ruby and Sapphire will recognize a lot of the locations in Pok?mon Emerald, but many elements within the game have changed, the most exciting of which is the addition of the Battle Frontier. The locations and frequency of Pok?mon are different, and you may even encounter a Gym Leader in your journeys.

Rating: Time with product: 1 Months Strengths: Pokeman, familiar gameplay Weaknesses: Similar to previous games Summary: I bought this for my son since he spent countless hours playing the Pokemon Ruby. It's very similar to the previous game with a few enhancement. There's the natural draw because it is a Pokemon game but it doesn't seem to pack enough differences to really stand out from the previous version. The graphics and features don't compare very well to most of the games being released, but he loves the gameplay and that's what it's all about anyway. I recommend it for any 5-10 year old Pokeman addict. |

Rating: Time with product: Strengths: Wider variety of Pokemon; addictive gameplay; familiar interface Weaknesses: nothing new gameplay wise Summary: Pokemon are one of the most successful portable gaming franchises period. If you get past the stigma of Pokemon affliated with younger gamers, the RPG elements are actually pretty addictive to even adult gamers. This time, Pokemon Emerald builds upon the previous Pokemon titles by adding in more reclusive Pokemon characters, old and new. You don't need a gameshark to "cheat" your way to unlocking certain Pokemons because you can do it the old fashioned way with Pokemon Emerald linking your previous games. Of course, it is infinitely more time consuming and you need your fair share of luck.Though bringing in more Pokemon characters is definitely better, you have to wonder if the gameplay presentation has gotten a little static. It is beyond refinement at this point, so hopefully, the next Pokemon title on GBA or DS can bring about a different spin on the interface while commensurately, bring in more Pokemon characters to unlock. This is a value buy for Pokemon fans that have previous games--you need it for a complete collection. For those wanting to get a taste of Pokemon for the first time, it is an excellent way to immerse yourself in the gameplay. |

Rating: Time with product: 5 Days Strengths: A larger amount of catchable Pokemon, several new challenges Weaknesses: Many of the best additions are not available until after beating the main game Summary: Pokemon Emerald is a remake of the Ruby/Sapphire games for GBA, with some new additions such as an extended Battle Frontier and the ability to replay gym battles. Anyone who missed the Ruby and Sapphire games should definitely pick this one up. For long-time players of this series, Emerald has some new tricks, but may be too familiar to those looking for the next big change in Pokemon |
