Each kart holds two racers, so choose from Mario, Luigi, Peach, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Yoshi, Birdo, Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Koopa, and Paratroopa and pair them up any way you see fit.The character in front handles the driving duties, while the character in the rear doles out damage with six normal items and eight special items that only specific characters can use. Racers can swap places at any time, so switch it up on the fly to make the best use of your items as you tear around curves and over huge elevation changes.

Rating: Time with product: 2 Years Strengths: Everything you like about Mario Kart. Four people playing this equals a great time. Weaknesses: Not much new here. Summary: Everyone's played Mario Kart. You totally know what to expect here, and guess what? That's what you're getting. Nothing more. There's a new double-driver dynamic that really just boils down to your ability to hold two weapons at once. The one who's driving has no impact on the game's control; all that matters is the kart itself. And to make matters worse, you can't see the kart's stats when selecting it in multiplayer. That's just ludicrous. There are plenty of well-designed courses here, so you'll probably not get too bored in that respect. The only issue is, there's really no reason to start playing this if you've already got an N64 hooked up with Mario Kart 64, aside from a better looking game. There's system link support for the three of you with broadband adaptors, but that's quite useless; you can't even select your racers in that mode. If you don't have an N64, get this. It's plenty of fun. But if you do, stick with MK64. It's basically the same. This game is good on its own, but chances are you've already got a version that's just as good. |

Rating: Time with product: Strengths: Awesome game, great control, great multiplayer Weaknesses: None Summary: This game was GREAT! One of the better Gamecube games out there by far. The thing about this game is the multiplayer. One person can control the items and the other the car, or you can race against each other head to head. The levels are GREAT, and the characters voices and everything about them are AWESOME. BUY THIS GAME. |

Rating: Time with product: Strengths: Mario Kart epitomizes multiplayer fun. The graphics are good. Enhanced gameplay options such as two riders per cart. Weaknesses: Somewhat stingy with the power-ups. More tracks and battle arenas would have been nice. Music can be annoying at times. Summary: Double Dash is one of the must buy games for the Gamecube. With the cast of Nintendo characters and the improved graphics of the Gamecube, this version of Mario Kart is guaranteed to please the kidlets and the adults. Multiplayer is where Mario Kart shines. Get a few friends over and it's a blast. One disappointment for me was the inability to have the grand prix mode with more than 2 characters along with bots; without the bots, 3-4 players generally battled against each other for 2nd place while the guy in 1st has a straight shot to the finish. Overall, it is a classic. Gameplay : 5 out of 5 Graphics : 4 out of 5 Sound : 4 out of 5 |
